Rules for Projects

1. The project answers are to be "typed" on 8.5" by 11" paper with the answers in order and numbered correctly. Your name and the page number should appear in the upper right hand corner of each page. The pages should be assembled in numerical order and stapled in the upper left hand corner. Do not write the answers to questions on the computer output. Answers should be complete sentences - not phrases. The expression "s = 2.564" is a sentence. Do not copy my question onto your paper. Attach a copy of the questions to the project if you want to do so.

2. If you are using a word processing package to prepare your project, use a point size of at least 12. When entering a formula and showing calculations not provided in the computer output, either enter formulas and symbols by hand or learn to do them correctly. DO NOT ADLIB SYMBOLS.

3. When giving a value obtained from computer output, give the page number in the output on which the value is found in parentheses after the value. On the output highlight the value and give the question number. Every value should have its symbolic name attached. Do not write "the standard deviation is 3.75"; write "s = 3.75".

4. Turn in the FILE.LIS with each computer assignment which uses SPSS. If you wrote or edited the FILE.SPS, turn it in as well. If you create a separate file for the data, turn in the FILE.DAT. If you used a data file provided by me, do not turn in FILE.DAT.

5. If the option "length = none" is used, download your output file. Use your word processing software to add page breaks. Use "New Courier" 10 as the font for printing output. Times Roman does not maintain the columns and spacing in the output.

6. Put your project and all necessary computer files in your file folder. Be sure your name is on the tab. Be sure that your name is on the first page of each set of computer output. If it is printed on a dot-matrix paper, do not tear the pages apart.
