Dear Honors College Students,
Welcome to the 2009 Honors College Italy Program!
The Honors College at FIU has been conducting study abroad programs
to Europe continuously since 1994 and the 2009 program will be the
12th trip to Italy. The Honors College Italy Program is an interdisciplinary
study-travel experience that is open to students of all majors.
FIU Honors College students may use the courses to complete one
year of honors curriculum requirements and subsequently have priority
admission into the program. The 2009 program will take a limited
number of participants to three cities as centers of investigation
on this academic journey. They are Rome, Florence, and Padua.
Students participating in the FIU Honors College Italy Program must
register for the 3 credit hour pre-trip seminar in the Spring 2009
term at University Park, and the 3 credit hour "in-country"
course in the Summer-A term in Italy. The Spring semester course
will prepare you to appreciate the significance of the places that
we will visit on the trip through a series of readings, lectures,
and films. While in Italy, students are lectured in the field by
the faculty, give one "expert for the day talk" on a topic
of their choosing, and complete a final exam. Students are afforded
the opportunity to extend their travels after the program concludes
in Italy.
