An internship at Hawk’s Cay Resort will
provide a strong background for career
preparation in the hospitality industry.
A highly skilled management team provides
guidance and encourages professional and
personal growth. Hawk’s Cay provides an
opportunity to sample a variety of areas
associated with the hospitality industry.
The length of the program varies. Our
Recreation Intern Program is a minimum
commitment of fourteen weeks, but may
be altered depending upon the intern’s
needs. All other programs require a minimum
commitment of six months, but again, may
be altered depending upon the intern’s
needs. Interns will be scheduled to work
between 40-50 hours per week. This will
require the intern to work a flexible
schedule, including nights, weekends and
holidays.

Interns who commit to a minimum six-month
program and will be training in staff
positions will receive $7.50 per hour
(less taxes) room ($80 per week) and board.
Internships under 6 months of duration
will receive a weekly stipend of $110
plus free room & board.
About Intern Housing…
Our intern housing is located on premise
and is smoke free. The rooms are small,
dormitory-style with minimal furnishings
and have shared bath facilities. Each
room has a single (twin) bed, closet,
small table or nightstand and a chair;
some larger rooms have two single beds.
Electricity, water and cable are included.
In addition, we have a few one & two
bedroom apartments on property. Depending
on availability, you might be assigned
to share a bedroom with another intern
in one of these buildings. These apartments
include bathroom and kitchen facilities
but are also minimally furnished and simple.
Please do not expect to be housed in facilities
as seen on our website.
You are responsible for your own bed linens
for a twin bed (pillow, sheets and comforter
or blanket) as well as bathroom towels
and wash cloths. You will have access
to a coin operated laundry, which is at
your cost. A room deposit of $100 will
be deducted from payroll in two installments
and reimbursed, pending a satisfactory
checkout, at the end of your stay. Small
appliances such as fans, radios, televisions,
toaster, microwaves and small refrigerators
may also be considered. Limited
space is available in the rooms for storage,
so pack lightly.
Hawk’s Cay provides free lunch and dinner
per day . Food may not be taken out of
our employee’s cafeteria. The food is
well balanced, with a variety of meats,
starches, vegetables, salads and beverages.
Uniforms…
We provide uniforms to all interns. Culinary
interns will be responsible for bringing
their own pants and supplying us with
coat sizes prior to arrival. You must
provide your own footwear, which usually
consists of white socks and white tennis
shoes, except if you are in the kitchen.
You should bring some clothing that is
“professional casual” as you may have
the opportunity to work as a host or hostess,
or in the gift shops. You may also be
invited to sit in on a staff meeting.
Resort Facilities…
With the exception of the Marina Store,
all resort facilities are off-limits to
the resort staff. You will be able to
enjoy our glass bottom boat (the Osprey),
our dive/snorkel boat, kayaking, bike
rentals, and the interactive dolphin program
complimentary, provided there is space
available. Our dive shop frequently offers
reduced rates for staff members to become
certified and our parasailing operation
may also offer discount rates. You will
not have access to work-out facilities,
pools or the lagoon. We are an island
and isolated from a city by 10 or
12 miles. Please consider this as you
make your intern decisions.
Legal Requirements…
In order to be eligible for employment
at Hawk’s Cay, you must comply with certain
legal requirements. You must show us documents
that establish your identify and your
legal right to work in the United States.
We must see the originals of these documents
in order to lawfully employ you.

Hawk’s Cay Resort is a drug-free environment.
Employment is contingent upon a negative
drug screening previous to beginning employment.
The drug test will need to be administered
within 30 days of your arrival to the

Resort is a AAA four-diamond resort,
occupying 24 acres of pristine beachfront
property on Hilton Head, South Carolina.
Positions Available For Internship
Duration and location:
Internships may be arranged in the
following areas:

Food & Beverage division - for three,
six, or twelve months

Activities - for three months during
the summer (3 month, no rotation; 6
month; two rotations)
Spring
internships begin in late February to
mid March.
Summer internships
begin in mid-May to early June.
Fall internships begin
in late August to early September
Some internships may be combined; i.e.,
spring/summer; summer/fall
Departments
and responsibilities:
Each intern will rotate through
various department positions on a six
to twelve week cycle, depending on the
total length and location of the internship.
Job duties in each department are also
listed.
Compensation:
Interns will be paid at the hourly,
non-exempt rate of $6.50 per hour, except
for some tipped positions. Appropriate
uniforms will be provided and maintained
by the resort. Interns will be responsible
for appropriate footwear. Interns
will be provided one free meal per shift
in our employee cafeteria, Cafe by the
Sea. Interns will be classified as seasonal
employees, and therefore will be eligible
for limited benefits.
Housing:
Furnished housing will be provided
by the resort at the cost of $70.00
per week, paid through payroll deduction.
The resort will assume the cost of basic
utilities which will be turned on prior
to the intern's arrival. Only
local telephone use is included.
Interns are not required to utilize
resort housing.

Revenue Manager
The Revenue Manager is responsible for
maximizing room revenue and yield
penetration through proper management of
room inventories through analytical and
technical knowledge of hotel
reservations systems and front office
systems of multiple hotels. As an IHR
Revenue Manager, you will develop,
implement, monitor and control sales
strategies; conduct sales strategy
meetings to ensure the proper mix of
group/transient guests while maximizing
occupancy and room revenue.
Analytical and technical skills are
required along with working knowledge of
reservations and front office. Four-year
college degree or equivalent experience
preferred.
