  Awards & Stipends

GN offers four categories of awards & stipends.

  • The Joncier Greene Award is available to members for attendance at related seminars and conferences. GN members are reminded of the availability of grant monies to help cover expenses for travel and registration at nutrition and aging meetings. The Joncier Greene Continuing Education Award reimburses up to a maximum of $250 for GN members. The application process includes submitting an application form with a description of how the event will contribute to your professional growth and competency. Applications are reviewed by the GN Executive Committee. The reimbursement follows submission of a 500 word summary within 30 days of the meeting. Requests must be submitted 6 weeks prior to the event. To be eligible, applicants must have been a GN member for the past two consecutive years, be actively employed in or retired from a professional position involving older adults and be able to demonstrate that the event has applied for ADA continuing education credits.   • The Speaker Stipend Award is awarded to organizations to help sponsor a GN speaker at an organizational event such as state dietetic meetings. Speaker Stipend Funds are also available to help sponsor GN members as speakers on gerontological nutrition at various meetings and events. Persons planning programs need to submit the request at least 3 months in advance or in time enough to allow for application processing and acknowledgment of GN sponsorship on any printed programs. To be eligible, applicants must have been a GN member for the past two consecutive years, address a major session for at least 45 minutes, and anticipate 50 participants.   • Monies for Nutrition Education Materials Development is a new award for GN members to develop educational materials for use with elderly clients. The application process will include submitting an application form with a description of the intended project and future availability to other members. To be eligible, applicants need to have been a member of GN for the past two consecutive years. For more information contact gerinutr@ucdavis.edu.

  • The Service Award which is awarded to GN members for distinguished service. During GN’s history, four Service Awards have been presented. To nominate a GN member for the service award please contact the awards committee via , gerinutr@ucdavis.edu Attn.: Awards Committee Chairman.
