Q: How do I enroll?
A: FIG registration is during Freshman Orientation, or
email. Ask your Academic Advisors.
Q: Does joining a FIG commit me to the major?
A: Not at all. Students are admitted into majors after
meeting lower-division requirements. FIGs can give you a head
start on fulfilling UCC and pre-requisite requirements and exploring
your special interests.
Q: Why join a FIG?
A: FIGs meet University graduation and intended-major
requirements, guarantee course selection and schedule, provide
additional support by peers and faculty, and encourage learning
across the disciplines. FIGs transform the large university
experience into smaller learning communities and help you make
friends.
Q: How big is a FIG?
A: Each FIG is limited to twenty-five students. You’ll
meet together for Freshman Composition and Freshman Experience
(and science labs, if your FIG has one), and then combine with
other FIGs in larger sections for other classes.
