TV, radio to beam today's game to Cuba

Cuban exile television and radio will broadcast into Cuba today's Game 5 of the World Series when Marlins pitcher Livan Hernandez, a defector from the island, is expected to take the mound.

TV Marti is always scrambled by the government in Cuba, but Radio Marti is audible on much of the island. Some residents have also been able to pick up the radio broadcast of Miami-based WCMQ.

``Major League Baseball Interim Commissioner Bud Selig has been gracious enough to allow Radio and TV Marti to broadcast the game into Cuba and allow the Cuban people to share in this exciting moment with Livan,'' said U.S. Sen. Connie Mack, R-Fla., who interceded to get the broadcast approved.

The senator is the grandson of the legendary baseball manager and team owner of the Philadelphia Athletics, Connie Mack.
