10 Cuban refugees turn up in Sunny Isles

Ten wet Cuban refugees showed up at a Sunny Isles Beach convenience store Tuesday night.

They stopped at the Ocean Food Mart at 16050 Collins Ave. about 10:50 p.m., said Sunny Isles Beach Police Sgt. Barry Noe. There were seven adults and three children.

The refugees paid to come over, Noe said, but he didn't know how much. No boat was found.

The U.S. Border Patrol took the group to the agency's Pembroke Pines office about 11:30 p.m.

Since Saturday, more than 50 Cubans have turned up along the Miami-Dade County coastline. Five others were intercepted Monday off Key Largo.
