Mexico City, Nov 4 (EFE).- Various Mexican intellectuals called for the release of four Cuban dissidents who have been jailed for 100 days in a Havana prison.
In a statement released on Tuesday, the intellectuals denounced the imprisonment of Vladimiro Roca Antuez (Social-Democrat Party), Martha Beatriz Roque (Independent Economists Association), Rene Gomez Manzano (Agramonte Lawyers), and Felix Bonne Carcases (Civic Current).
"These prisoners form the working group of the Cuban internal dissidence," said the statement signed by the Mexican intellectuals. Those signing included authors Gabriel Zaid, Enrique Krauze, Carlos Monsivais, Jorge Castañeda, Salvador Castañeda, and federal legislator Profirio Muñoz Ledo.
The statement will be given to the heads of state attending the VII Ibero-American Summit on November 7th through the 9th in the Venezuelan island of Margarita. EFE
