Joachim was my best friend. I know that I never will have such a friend again, that is a fact. Joachim was the type of a person who could be very serious for one moment, and in the next moment he could say something funny, which made me think that I was going to die from laughter.
Despite the fact that I only knew Joachim for about 8 years, he and his family made a deep, deep impression on me and my family. He was welcome anytime in my family4s home, and was in fact the fifth member of the family, and almost the second son.
Joachim was a person who I could trust 100%. He was a man who kept his word, even if he had to go through fire.
I can not really put into words why he made so great an impact on me and my family. He just did. Even though I was a little bit older, I sometimes felt in some areas he had much more knowledge and wisdom to give than I ever could. But then again, he would seek my advice about things I never had dreamt of.
Joachim was by nature a winner type, he simply could not stand to lose. When we were running, playing soccer, badminton, or when we were swimming.
I am looking forward to meeting Joachim in heaven in about 70 years.
When Joachim was brutally shot down and killed by a Cuban soldier March 1997, his parents lost their dear son, his sisters lost their dear brother, his sister's children lost their uncle, and his friend lost his best friend ... and the world lost a great personality.
Honored by the memory of Joachim Løvschall
