Iran and Cuba vow cooperation

TEHRAN, Iran -- (AFP) -- Iran and Cuba, two countries subjected to American sanctions, are aiming to boost economic cooperation and trade, the official Iranian news agency IRNA said Monday.

A Cuban economic delegation, headed by Minister of Foreign Commerce Ricardo Cabrisas Ruiz, has been here for the few past days to explore ways of ``removing difficulties in the way of trade ties.''

The two countries are seeking to ``reinforce economic cooperation,'' IRNA said.

Tehran and Havana are linked by an accord allowing Cuban participation in the construction of a sugar refinery in Iran, selling pharmaceutical products and sending medical staff to the Islamic republic.
