MEXICO CITY (AP) -- Family members of former president Carlos Salinas de Gortari say he is in Cuba consulting advisers about the money-laundering case against his brother, Raul, local media reported Saturday.

Carlos Salinas left Mexico in disgrace soon after leaving office in December 1994, but may return for the first time in more than three years, the newspaper El Universal quoted unidentified relatives as saying.

Swiss prosecutors have reportedly concluded that $132 million in Swiss bank accounts held by his brother, Raul Salinas, probably stem from drug-related bribes. Raul Salinas has denied the accusation.

Mexican media previously had reported that Carlos Salinas had left Ireland, where he has spent much of his self-imposed exile following the 1994 peso crisis, which badly tarnished his administration.

Raul Salinas, imprisoned since early 1995, is on trial in Mexico on charges of illegally enriching himself during his brother's administration and masterminding the 1994 murder of a political rival.

Carlos Salinas has never been charged with a crime.
