CAIBARIEN, CUBA. January 3 - (Edel José García Díaz, CNP)
The fatal sinking of a boat caused the death of eight residents of Caibarién, Province of Villa Clara. Seeking a land of liberty, they drowned when their boat split off due to very strong waves.
Units of the Cuban Coast Guard found eight bodies and one survivor. At 7:00 p.m., January 3, 1998, family members, friends and neighbors gathered outside the Villa Blanca hospital waiting for the arrival of the deceased.
This unfortunate incident is the result of dogmatic policies and the desperation that overwhelms the Cuban people in trying to escape the workers' paradise.
