HAVANA -- (EFE) -- The Cuban government on Thursday rejected statements by one of its diplomats who minimized the effects of the Helms-Burton law and said Cuba is interested in resuming its communication with the United States.
Cuba's Foreign Ministry said statements made in Washington by Tomas Misas of the Cuban Interests Section ``were never authorized'' and far removed from ``the positions of the Cuban government.''
Misas had told the Mexican news agency Notimex that ``the Helms-Burton law is not the problem, the problem for us is the difficulty to resume the communication we had'' before the downing of two exile planes Feb. 24.
