The address: http://www.nacub.org/
The page was activated Monday. It provides information about religious conferences and publications, homilies delivered by Cuban prelates and articles published in the newsletters of the various archdioceses throughout the island.
A chart provides current figures about the number of priests, nuns and other clergy in each diocese. A historical section carries the most important papal messages related to Cuba, from Pope Pius XI's message to the First National Eucharistic Congress in 1947 to John Paul II's address at the Vatican Nov. 26, 1994, on the occasion of the investiture of Cardinal Jaime Ortega, archbishop of Havana.
The Internet page was inaugurated at a time when Cuba's Catholic Church has no access to the government-controlled mass media to disseminate information about the pope's scheduled visit to the island Jan. 21-25.
The information the church is providing worldwide is unavailable to the people of Cuba, who have no access to the Internet.
