HAVANA, January 22 (Habana Press). The well known slogan is now etched in stone. The well-intentioned advice given to the Cuban Head of State by kings. widows, statesmen and people with common sense has received a fate of ingratitude.
To tell the truth, though, the insistence has been fruitful. Although, the change has been only cosmetic, directed only to achieve deceit. It has only been an haute couture costume designed for the high theater, suggested by public relations specialists and blessed by a witch doctor.
The rest, is flour from a different sack. The pleas given at regional summits, old world capitals, and at the United Nations, are summarily discarded, in the best of cases, by an addressee with the malevolous capacity to misinterpret meanings when the talk is about democracy. The pleas for an opening, are called deliberate insults; the plurality of political parties, a curse from hell; freed om of expression is called a way to corrupt people, and so forth. There is no word associated with democracy that does not receive a wrongful interpretation.
It is the Craziness Syndrome, a disease found in regions or countries with a communist system. Those affected go through different stages, some of them very dangerous, such as fanaticism and shamelessness. There is an antidote now. Luckily, it is not the law of affirmation of the Cuban dignity and sovereignty, which is euphemis tically called the antidote law -sorry for the redundancy- directed to the heretics who deny the anti-change doctrine.
In the exercise of the individual viewpoint, and above all, self respect, is where we have the weapons to attack the slavery virus, engendered by totalitarianism. There are no surprises on that road.
Who can deny the chasm under our feet? Who is not aware of the moral and ethical weakness of the society? Who dares to deny that neither the Helms-Burton and Torricelli Laws, nor the declarations of Viña del Mar, nor the agreement of the european countries have given positive results to date?
The only surprise is discarded: Castro does not change.
