Black Caucus Congress members visit Havana

Havana, Feb 17 -- (EFE)-- Six Black Caucus members from the U.S. Congress arrived in Havana on Wednesday to see firsthand the effects of the U.S. economic embargo on the education and health systems of the island.

U.S. Congresswoman Maxime Waters (Dem --CA) said, ``We come to Cuba with open minds and good feelings. We hope to exercise some leadership, even a modest amount, in the future debates on a resolution about U.S --Cuban relations.''

The congressmen plan to meet with the president of the International Relations Parliamentary Commission, Jorge Lezcano, and other legislators.

They will also meet with Foreign Minister Roberto Robaina and with the Economy and Tourism ministers, and visit hospitals, as well as cultural and historic centers.
