Teach at Conservation Summits for the National Wildlife Federation; work with American Forests and the U.S. Department of Energy on their Cool Communities Program to implement energy conservation landscaping and white roofs in urban areas; Board Member of the following South Florida organizations:(1) Citizens for a Better South Florida (focuses on environmental education for new immigrants and minorities), (2) Treemendous Dade (plants appropriate trees along highways and in low-income neighborhoods), and (3) Biscayne Nature Center (environmental education) . Work in the local community on environmental housing with Habitat for Humanity, the Christmas in April Foundation and local government agencies.

Professor of Environmental Science and Chemistry; Coordinator of the Environmental Studies Certificate Program and the advisement program for the Environmental Studies Department. He received a B.Sc. in Chemistry from Emory University in Atlanta and a Ph.D. in Physical Chemistry from the University of California at Berkeley. He is a founding member of Florida International University and its Chemistry and Environmental Studies Departments. He has received university awards in teaching, service and advisement. He also received the Gregory Wolfe Faculty Award from FIU's Student Government Association and a Distinguished Community Service Award from the Florida Board of Regents. He received the American Forests' National Research Medal for his pioneering studies of energy conservation landscaping. |
