The English Department at Florida International University operates on two campuses in Miami-Dade County as well as outreach, foreign study and
Broward County centers.

The Department houses the Literature faculty, Composition, Creative Writing
and Linguistics programs on graduate and undergraduate levels.

Mission Statement

The mission of the department is to develop students’ abilities to read critically, analyze diverse literatures, and write extended arguments that are original, conceptually complex, and well substantiated.

English Department courses are found under AML, CRW, ENC, ENG, ENL, FIL, LIN, and LIT prefixes.

English majors are urged to see a Department advisor once per year or more often as graduation approaches.
