Insurance for International Automobile Rental

When renting a vehicle in a foreign country, confirm whether an international driver's license is needed. 

You should strongly consider purchasing the following optional insurance coverage provided by the rental company:

Loss Damage Waiver ( LDW ): This  limits your financial liability for damage to the rental vehicle, it parts and accessories, except theft, attempted theft or vandalism, provided the vehicle is used in accordance with the terms and conditions of the rental agreement

Automobile Liability Insurance: This provides liability coverage for its vehicles as required by applicable law (in most cases included in the LDW)

Personal Accident Insurance (PAI) : This provides accidental death and emergency medical expense benefits to the renter and all passengers

Please note that each country has different terminology and different limits, it is our recommendation that at minimum the three types of insurance coverage described above should be considered.
