Clearance Procedures

For purposes of assuring the University's compliance with federal, state, or local regulations any University employee who generates, stores, treats, transports, disposes of, or otherwise handles or has handled any materials covered under this section shall, upon request of any authorized officer, employee, or representative of Federal, State or Local Law Enforcement,  Environmental Protection Agency, the Bureau of Radiation Control, State Fire Marshall's Office or the FIU Department of Environmental Health & Safety, furnish information relating to such materials and permit such person at all reasonable times to have access to locations and relevant records relating to the approved and appropriate use of  such materials. 

Such agents, with the appropriate and timely notice to the Vice President of Research, may enter at any reasonable time, any laboratory location or other place where materials are being generated, stored, treated or disposed of, in order to:

  1. Conduct monitoring or testing
  2. Inspect and evaluate permits
  3. Evaluate operating conditions

Specific research activities require compliance with specific Federal, State or local regulations, or University policy. Please complete the  form related to your area of research.

  Radioactive Materials/ Lasers /Radiation Machines

  Bio-Hazardous/Biomedical Materials

  Hazardous Chemicals (Carcinogens, Explosives, etc.)
