On March 17, 1917, 5 women from New York University Law School took a pledge of loyalty and founded Delta Phi Epsilon, one of the first nonsectarian social sorority and the only one founded at a professional school. From the notes of our founders, Delta Phi Epsilon was formed "for the purpose of promoting good fellowship among sorority women… to help in acquiring knowledge, appreciation, discriminating judgment and a true feeling of sisterly love, through the interaction of sympathetic and friendly natures."

On April 16, 1989, the Alpha Gamma Chapter of DPhiE was founded at Florida International University (FIU). Since our local founding 20 years ago, the Alpha Gamma chapter has proven to live by the dreams of our founders. Delta Phi Epsilon develops a social consciousness and a commitment to think and act for the greater good. We live by our founding values of Dedication, Pride, & Excellence.
