April 6, 2006: Gilbert Adler Talks “Superman Returns”
Issue #345 (May 2006) of Starlog magazine
(available now) features an interview with "Superman Returns" producer
Gilbert Adler. Here's an excerpt from the article where Adler talks
about Brandon Routh...
"I completely buy it, and I'm just thrilled that he has grown
so much in the course of this journey, which started, for him, in
October or November [2004]. There's a vulnerability about Brandon -
both as Clark and Superman - that's very appealing to me, and I think
it will be appealing to audiences. He's good-looking and tall, but that
vulnerability is the most important part. People will empathize with
this character."

April 6, 2006: Kevin Spacey on Playing Lex Luthor in “Superman Returns”
Inside issue #336 of Starburst Magazine
(available now) you'll find a "Superman Returns" Set Visit report,
including an interview with Kevin Spacey on playing Lex Luthor.
Direct from Australia, stage and screen star Kevin Spacey
reveals what it's like to play a legendary villain - Superman's
arch-nemesis Lex Luthor - in this Summer's hottest movie!
Here's an excerpt from the interview with Kevin Spacey...
Everyone in the cast is under pressure to match the
performances of their characters' previous incarnations. Spacey,
however, watched Gene Hackman as Lex Luthor for different reasons. "I
watched the other actors but not with any sense of wanting to reference
them because the Lex I portray is a very different Lex Luthor. This is
a very bitter Lex, a very angry Lex, a Lex out for revenge. There's
still humor, but it's not the same."
Spacey obviously had fun portraying the twisted genius, "Well he's just
one of those iconic parts. Not just from the previous movies but all
the way back to the original comic books. He's one of those great evil
characters that you just love to hate."

Meanwhile, the following two photos were found at the Yahoo! Korea website. The first is a photo of Brandon Routh as Clark Kent (first seen in the February 2006 edition of Empire Magazine), while the second shows Clark in the back left corner of a packed elevator, with Lois in the back right corner.
Thanks to Olia from DevotedtoSmallville for the lead on the Starburst story.

April 5, 2006: Judge Says Siegels Own Superboy - “Smallville” in Question
Newsarama has reported on a report in Variety
regarding an update in the legal proceedings between Jerry Siegel's
family and Time Warner/DC Comics. The following excerpt comes from
their article, discussing the fact that the Judge overseeing the case
has ruled that the rights to "Superboy" are held by the Siegels...
According to Variety the ongoing Siegel/DC/Time Warner
battle for Superboy took another step at the end of March when Judge
Ronald S.W. Lew, in a summary judgement found that Smallvillemay
be infringing upon the copyright to Superboy which are, according to
the ruling held by Joanne Siegel and Laura Siegel Larson, the wife and
daughter of the late Superman co-creator, Jerry Siegel.
More importantly, in the summary judgment, which was made March 23rd,
Judge Lew found that the Siegels had successfully recaptured the
Superboy rights as of November 17th, 2004. Technically, and according
to Lew's ruling, the Siegels have owned the character of Superboy since
that time, and following that through, would be due a portion of the
profits generated by the show since then.
Lew denied a request from Warner Bros. for a ruling that Smallville
does not, in fact, infringe upon the Superboy copyrights. Warner Bros.
says it "respectfully disagrees" with the ruling, and will pursue an
appeal.

Well, it's two days late, folks, but here's my diary of the Superman Homepage at the Emerald City Comic Con.
In a word, amazing. I had no idea that the Homepage stretched so far,
so wide, and so prominently across fandom. From the minute I sat down
about two hours before the con started, people who knew this site from
the net came by and said hello. It was humbling, it was flattering. It
was a blast.
