AFRICAN WOMEN WRITERS

This course is designed to introduce the students to African Literature with a primary focus on contemporary female African writers. We will read approximately five (5) novels by West African authors such as:

Flora Nwapa (Nigeria)

Buchi Emecheta(Nigeria)

Nafissatou Diallo(Senegal)

Aminata Sow Fall (Senegal)

Mariama Ba(Senegal)

Among these readings, we will study Scarlet Song, Double Yoke, Women Are Different, A Dakar Childhood, and A Beggar’s Strike.
