The Doctor of Education (Ed.D) in Curriculum and Instruction includes specialization areas in: Art Education, Early Childhood Education, Elementary Education,
English Education, Instructional Leadership, International and Intercultural Development Education, Learning Technologies, Mathematics Education,
Modern Language/Bilingual Education, Reading Education, Science Education, and Social Studies Education.
Education Specialist
The Education Specialist (Ed.S.) in Curriculum and Instruction includes specialization areas in: Art Education, Early Childhood Education, Elementary Education,
English Education, Instructional Leadership, Learning Technologies (coming soon), Mathematics Education, Modern Language/Bilingual Education, Reading
Education, Science Education, and Social Studies Education. The program is aligned with the National Board for Professional Teaching Standards (NBPTS)
propositions and standards, with a variety of areas of specialization.
Advanced Masters Programs
The Master of Science (M.S.) degree programs are for students interested in advanced graduate-level inquiry about philosophical perspectives, advanced
knowledge of theory and practice, trends and issues, and inquiry skills in their specialty. These include: Art Education, Early Childhood Education, Elementary
Education, English Education, Mathematics Education, Modern Language Education, Reading Education (K-12), Science Education, Social Studies Education,
Teaching English as a Second Language (TESOL). Plans are under way to develop a Master of Science degree in Curriculum and Instruction, aligned with the
National Board for Professional Teaching Standards (NBPTS) propositions and standards, with a variety of areas of specialization.
Initial Teacher Preparation Programs
The Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree programs provide professional preparation for students interested in becoming certified teachers. These include: Art
Education (K-12), Biology Education (6-12), Chemistry Education (6-12), Early Childhood Education, Elementary Education, English Education (6-12),
Mathematics Education (6-12), Modern Language Education (French and Spanish) (K-12), Physics Education (6-12), and Social Studies Education (6-12).
The
Master of Art in Teaching (MAT)degree programs
are for students with a liberal arts degree and no prior professional
preparation who are seeking professional teaching certification in their areas
of specialization and advanced inquiry in education. These include: Art
Education, English Education, Mathematics Education, Modern Language Education,
Science Education, and Social Studies Education.
