Department of Curriculum and Instruction



  1. Tenure and Promotion Committee

    Charge:

    1. Review tenure and promotion applications.

    2. Conduct third-year review of tenure-earning faculty members.

    3. Periodically review and update Departmental Tenure and Promotion Policies and Procedures.

    4. Perform any other duties assigned by the Department Chair.

  2. Doctoral Program Committee

    Charge:

    1. Perform continuous program review and improvement.

    2. Review, select, and interview prospective doctoral student applicants.

    3. Recommend policies on faculty qualification for teaching and supervision of doctoral dissertation.

    4. Develop policies and procedures for doctoral studies in the department.

    5. Perform any other duties assigned by the Department Chair.

  3. Graduate Studies Committee

    Charge:

    1. Perform continuous program review and improvement.

    2. Review, select, and interview prospective advanced masters degree student applicants.

    3. Recommend policies on faculty qualification for teaching and supervision of masters thesis.

    4. Develop policies and procedures for advanced masters programs in the department.

    5. Perform any other duties assigned by the Department Chair.

  4. Initial Teacher Preparation Program Committee

    Charge:

    1. Perform continuous program review and improvement.

    2. Review, select, and recommend prospective students for admission into undergraduate and graduate initial teacher preparation programs.

    3. Develop policies and procedures for undergraduate and graduate teacher preparation programs in the department.

    4. Develop policies and programs for teacher certification.

    5. Perform any other duties assigned by the Department Chair.

  5. Faculty Development Committee

    Charge:

    1. Develop policies for faculty development.

    2. Recommend specific program development activities for the department.

    3. Plan, organize, and implement approved faculty development activities for the department.

    4. Perform any other duties assigned by the Department Chair.

  6. Departmental Steering Committee

    Charge:

    1. Advise the department Chair on the day-to-day running of the department.

    2. Serve as the planning and evaluation mechanism for the department.

    3. Initiate and/or review policies for all programs in the department.

    4. Perform any other duties as deemed necessary by the department chair and/or the Steering Committee for the overall effective functioning of the department.
