- Review, select, and interview prospective doctoral student applicants.
- Recommend policies on faculty qualification for teaching and supervision of doctoral dissertation.
- Develop policies and procedures for doctoral studies in the department.
- Perform any other duties assigned by the Department Chair.

- Develop policies and procedures for undergraduate and graduate teacher preparation programs in the department.
- Develop policies and programs for teacher certification.
- Perform any other duties assigned by the Department Chair.

- Departmental Steering Committee
Charge:
- Advise the department Chair on the day-to-day running of the department.
- Serve as the planning and evaluation mechanism for the department.
- Initiate and/or review policies for all programs in the department.
- Perform any other duties as deemed necessary by the department chair and/or the Steering Committee for the overall effective functioning of the department.
