Gross Anatomy Lab Practical Procedure

        Please turn off all cell phones and beepers prior to entering lab so that your colleagues are not disturbed during the exam.
       1)        Upon entering, store your bags, pick up a blank answer sheet, find a station and wait patiently and quietly; you should have only a clipboard, answer sheet and pen/pencil; do not start the exam until so instructed.
       2)        Write your name, SSN, tank number and section on the answer sheet (provided).
       3)        At each station identify the structure looped or pierced by the tag's string; there will be a number (1-40) on the tag itself;
- do not touch the tags (fragile), bones or models;
- enter your answer on the line of your answer sheet corresponding to the tag number;
- if ambiguous, look for card (should be card prompt on the tag);
- if still unclear, raise your hand and await an instructor.
       4)        You have 75 minutes; if a station is occupied, wait patiently until it opens or move on to an open one; remember, you can return to any and all stations during the 75 minutes as many times as you wish.
       5)        To avoid tempting your colleagues from researching your answers, keep your clipboard against your body except when writing.
       6)        When finished, turn in your exam and exit by the west door.
       7)        After the exam, please do not congregate outside the lab door; the noise disturbs those still taking the exam.
       8)        Please do not discuss the exam with those who have yet to take it.
       9)        An answer key will be posted after the exam is graded.
       10)        Those not wishing their score posted on the web by SSN should inform the instructors.

Recall the basic steps in identifying any anatomical structure (gross, histological or neurological):
     N.B.  If two (hopefully no more) answers come to mind, record them both; then think (don't look) of a criteria by which they can be distinguished, then re-examine the structure, apply your criteria and delete the eliminated answer

Finally, check that the answer line and question # match!
