Dr. Ellen G. Cohn is
an Associate Professor in the Department
of Criminal Justice at Florida International
University. She received a Ph.D. and an M.Phil. in criminology from the University of Cambridge
as well as a B.A. and M.A. in criminal justice from the University of Maryland.
Dr. Cohn's research focuses primarily on the effect of weather and temporal
variables on criminal behavior and on the use of citation analysis in criminology;
she is considered to be an expert on the area of weather and criminal
behavior. Dr. Cohn has published in a
wide variety of criminology and psychology journals, including Criminology, Journal of Criminal Justice, Journal of Personality and Social Psychology,
British Journal of Criminology,
Environment and Behavior and Crime and Justice. Her book on citation
analysis, Evaluating Criminology and Criminal Justice
was published by the Greenwood Publishing Group and is considered the leading
work on the subject. She currently
serves as a reviewer for journals in both criminology and psychology and is a
member of the Steering Committee of the Miami-Dade Police Department's
Citizen Volunteer Program. Dr. Cohn is
also the Chair of the Board of Directors of Youth Crime Watch of America.
