Dance
Marathon (DM)
DM is a student-run philanthropy dedicated to raising
money for the Miami Children's Hospital Foundation. Over 250
students participate in the 25-hour fundraiser that
takes an entire year and a committee of some 60 students
to plan and implement.
LEAD
Team - Peer Leadership Consultants
A student group whose mission is to promote and support
leadership development. The LEAD Team participates
as program promoters and department ambassadors, group
facilitators, classroom presenters, and consultants
to student organizations.
Relay
for Life
FIU Relay for Life is a unique overnight
celebration of life and hope that one day we will
find a cure for cancer. Proceeds benefit the American
Cancer Society. For more information on how you can

aB is one of FIU's largest service led organizations. Each year Alternative Breaks selects over 22 different locations across the globe to perform strong direct service towards many social issues affecting our global community. With over 240 participants and 48 site leaders, Alternative Breaks is committed to - Changing the World... One Break at a Time!
Academy
of Leaders (AOL)
The Academy of Leaders is FIU's largest emerging leadership development program. It's a structured leadership
development certification program for students. AOL
teaches leadership competencies through educational
seminars, experiential exercises, and practical application. AOL has grown into several tracks that provide leadership development for Athletes, Greeks, and the FIU student community.
Leaders
in Residence
"Leaders in Residence" is dedicated to exploring personal
leadership styles and values experienced through a
living/learning community. Through educational programs,
mentoring experiences, community service involvement,
and cooperative living, students will develop valuable
lifelong skills.
ENGAGE
A bi-weekly one-hour workshop series addressing practical
leadership skill building through interactive exercises
and information.
Collegiate
Leadership Development Program (CLDP)
The principal objective of the Collegiate Leadership
Development Program (CLDP) is to begin cultivating
the next generation of student leaders through greater
activism on campus and in the community.
BBC
Learning About Leadership Lunch Series
"The “Learning About Leadership” lunch
series is designed to promote and facilitate constructive
dialogue and interaction between students, key university
officials and community leaders.
FIU
Student Leadership Summit
An annual on-campus leadership conference for current
student leaders. This is held at BBC and is co-sponsored
with the BBC and UP offices of Campus Life.
Volunteer Fairs
Volunteer Fairs bring representatives from local social
service organizations to campus for information and
registration for community service opportunities.

Excellence
in Civic Engagement Medallion of Distinction
The Medallion recognizes excellence in service
to the community. Students can track their volunteer
hours through the Student Development Transcript to
become eligible to wear the Medallion at commencement.
Student
Development Transcripts (SDT)
To co-curricular transcript
documents student learning and development outside
of the classroom. It chronicles campus and community
involvement, such as, volunteering, student club membership,
honors and awards, and leadership training and highlights

Certificate
in Professional Leadership Studies
The goal of this interdisciplinary certificate program
is to foster leadership in the FIU student body. It
will encourage a consideration of leadership from
multiple perspectives and contexts.
Organizational Development
Student groups can request customized training
sessions that focus on organizational development
topics. CLS staff will meet with members to assess
team strengths and weaknesses and provide sessions
to improve team effectiveness, including communications,
consensus building, conflict management, and decision-making.

Learning
Resources and support for faculty and students who
are engaged in a course with a service-learning component.
IHS
3204 Exploring Leadership
This 3-credit course is an interactive exploration
of personal leadership development through current
theories and models of leadership from three perspectives
including individual, group, and society. This course
is part of an interdisciplinary certificate program
in Professional Leadership Studies.
SOW 4932 Service Learning: Social Change & Contemporary
Social issues
A 3 Credit course that uses the principles of Service
Learning to examine a social issue and develop a response
through a service project.
