Program Materials

The Ninth Annual Spanish Language Faculty Development Program - Teaching Spanish for Business: A Global Approach is designed for Spanish college and university faculty, Spanish high school teachers and advanced graduate students.. The program will provide Spanish language faculty with knowledge about business terminology, the methodology of teaching Spanish for Business, information about the business world in Spain and its relationship to the European Union. Florida International University CIBER in cooperation with UNED, Universidad Nacional de Educacion a Distancia (www.uned.es), and the Department of Modern Languages of FIU invite Spanish language faculty to join their colleagues from around the nation for an exciting and rewarding one week workshop on Business Spanish to be held in Spain.

Program Fee:
The cost of the seminar, not including airfare per participant is $2000. Program fee costs will cover single occupancy lodging in an air-conditioned hotel room with private bath, breakfast, ground transportation during the program and some dinners.

VISA Information:
For travel to Spain, citizens of Canada, the US and most Western European countries will not need visas; participants from Colombia and a few other Latin American countries will need visas. Participants should contact the Spanish consulate nearest their home.

Weather and Dress code:
Program participants will be traveling to Spain during the beginning of summer; nevertheless weather can be unexpectedly cold or hot. Participants should pack light sweaters and long pants as well as clothes for warmer weather, since temperatures will fluctuate from day to day.

Travel Insurance:
Participants are encouraged to purchase international travel insurance that covers emergency medical evacuation and repatriation of remains. Participants may contact STA TRAVEL at 1-800-387-2427 or purchase online at www.statravel.com or any other International travel insurance company.

Miscellaneous Expenses:
Participants will be responsible for any personal expenses, including (but not exclusive to) faxes, local and international calls, room service, tips, airport taxes, visas, transportation and meals (beyond that offered in the program), additional tours, etc.
