Course requirements
Students must attend the Departmental Seminar Series and all Colloquium Presentations. Additionally students will describe their research project in a five-page proposal and in an oral presentation. The oral presentation should be 30 minutes long excluding questions and answers. The five-page proposal should be given to the student’s dissertation committee at least one week prior to the oral presentation. It is the student’s responsibility to ensure that ALL dissertation committee members attend the oral presentation. If all the committee members cannot attend, then specific permission from the instructor needs to be obtained well in advance of the oral presentation. Also, the student will need to bring a partially completed form M-2 or D-3 to their oral presentation; forms are available at http://www.fiu.edu/ugs/forms.html. Finally, an introduction to researching the chemical literature will provided at the university library on Sept. 12 (see below).
