Procedures for Adding Document Numbers
to Serials Records
This will apply to the serials in the United Nations official records section of International Documents that are arranged by UN document number.
1. For each title, Mercy will provide John with the location and the document letter/number, etc. that will be used for classification. In some cases the document letter/number may only consist of a single letter such as "A" plus bracketed information.
EX: A:/[session no.]/[issue no.]
2. John will edit the Copy Holdings Record for each title. The copy status and classification type codes will be edited as 2O (or 3O) for "other type of classification number," (i.e. not LC or Sudoc classification). The classification in the b subfield will be the letter/number(s) and bracketed information provided by Mercy.
3. John will do all new serial titles and any cataloged ones that need changes to the bibliographic record (addition of 590, etc.). Mercy will change the cataloged titles that currently have nothing in the call number area of the copy holdings records.
4. United Nations official records will now be retrievable by classification number with the co= search.
