Check series in Aleph
To check a series, we should always check our local catalog first, if no authority record is found in our local authority file (FIU10) then we should search the LC Authority File (LCA10). If no authority record is found in LCA10, then search OCLC Authority File. If no record is found in OCLC give book to Gus.
Checking series in FIU10
To check a series from the Bib record place cursor on the field for the series, 4xx or 8xx and press F3.
A window opens with the results for your search. Click on the Expand button to open series authority record. If you want to see records associated with your series click on View Docs. Do not click on OK button; unless you want to change the series in your record to match the selected title, if you want to close the result window click on Cancel.
NOTE: If the title of your series starts with an article Aleph does not know where to look in the index, click on the Jump to button, remove the article and click on OK to search again.
Checking series in LCA10
To check a series from the Bib record place cursor on the field for the series, 440 or 830 and press Ctrl+F3. A choose Library window opens, select LCA10, if it is not selected already and click on OK.
A window opens with the results for your search. Click on the Expand button to open series authority record. Do not click on OK button; unless you want to change the series in your record to match the selected title, if you want to close the result window click on Cancel.
Checking series in OCLC
Authority File
Open Connexion.
From the menu click on Authorities, Browse, and LC Names and Subjects or press ALT _F2.
Type the title of your series, select title and click on OK or press Enter.
Double click on the entry that matches your series to open the authority record.
