FIU Libraries Cataloging

Overall Workflow:
Books and Non-print Materials

Definitions
  1. 1st-level means DLC/DLC (including CIP).
  2. 2nd-level means that the record has a call number and subject headings (except for belles-lettres which don't normally receive subject headings).
  3. 3rd-level means that the record is missing a call number and/or subject headings or it has only a provisional record.
  4. A current book is one that has a recent publication/copyright date. For example, if the current year is 2007 then consider all books with a publication date of 2006 and 2007 to be current.
  5. A non-current book has a publication/copyright date that is 2 years old or order. For example, if the current year is 2007 then books with publication date 2005 or earlier are non-current.
