Overlaying a record through CATALYST.

- Search OCLC and export the record. If Catalyst is going to be used to overlay
the record there is no need to add the NOTIS number in OCLC even if what you
have in NOTIS is a provisional record.
- Open Catalyst.
- Type your NOTIS USERID and PASSWORD (example: USERID=fcaga1x ; password=xxxxxxx).
- Perform your search like you would do in NOTIS (ex: jt=gone with the wind)
and press ENTER.
- Click on the record you are searching for.
- Once you have the record you are going to overlay displayed on the screen,
click on the blue EDIT button at the top of the
screen, this will lock the record and allow you to overlay and edit the record.
- Click on File and scroll down to select Overlay record from Data
file.
- Click on the file export.dat (drive C:\OCLCAPPS\ or A:\, depending
on your settings) and click on Open.
- You will get the message: Delete Data File: "C:\OCLCAPPS\EXPORT.DAT".
Click on OK if you want to delete the file at this time. Go to the
bottom of the record and delete the last line on your record that looks like
this: 994: : |a E0 |b FXG.
- Click on the button next to EDIT, it looks like a piece of paper with a
blue arrow pointing up, which is to update the changes you made to the record.
