Springer publications
Gustavo will be the “point
man” for all in-coming Springer
publications. Aida will catalog the monographs that are currently on 2nd level shelf, and will put back on the "Springer Pub" shelf the ones that should be cataloged as a serial for John.
Gus will search Aleph to
determine if the item should be cataloged as a serial or a monograph.
If a monograph, Gus will either
catalog it himself or shelve it on the correct shelf for 2nd or 3rd
level monographs.
If a serial and we already
have a serial record in Aleph, he’ll pass the volume to Margarita to be added.
Margarita will follow the pattern of the call numbers on previously checked in
volumes.
NOTE: Added serial vols have to be "arrived" by Angela in Serials module.
If there is no serial record
in Aleph, he’ll search OCLC for a serial record to export into Aleph.
If there’s no serial record
in OCLC, he’ll input a provisional record using the PROV-MEM.MRC (FIU01)
template. As above:
The finished volumes will be
sent to labeling and subsequently to the shelves rather than holding them in
cataloging for John.
Provisionals and new serial records brought into Aleph will be
counted as Record Creation; John will count them as cataloged after he is done
with them.
*Note on call numbers:
John says that in the past he
has tried to include both the number of the conference and the date in the call
number on the spine label.
