Neglect

Definition: The chronic failure of a parent or caregiver to meet the basic needs of a child under 18.
Includes:

Failure to provide the following:

  • Food
  • Clothing
  • Shelter
  • Medical Care
  • Educational opportunity
  • Protection
  • Supervision
Result: Causes the child's physical, mental, or emotional health to be significantly impaired or to be in danger of being significantly impaired.
