Professional Certificate Program

The Certificate in School Food Service Management is an innovative and comprehensive professional training program encompassing the fundamentals of school food service management. Provided by the School of Hospitality Management at Florida International University.

All food service managers are currently required to achieve a specific number of college credits in order to hold a management position with the Miami-Dade County School District. The areas of coursework currently approved for managerial classification are not focused toward any specific course major. Although the courses presently being utilized are relevant, there is no process for managerial development in the food service area.

A Certificate in School Food Service Management will provide the required college credits toward managerial classification and also establish a path toward attaining an Associate or Baccalaureate degree in a related area, such as: Hospitality Management, Family and Consumer Science, or Dietetics and Nutrition.
