A comprehensive assessment battery is administered to all children
and parents referred to CAPP. A major purpose of the assessment is
to determine the precise nature of the child's problems and to ensure
appropriateness for treatment at CAPP.
The assessment includes a structured interview that is administered
separately to the child and the parent, as well as a questionnaire
battery. The questionnaires that are administered cover various facets
of the child's emotional and behavioral functioning.
The parent also is asked to complete several questionnaires about
his or her own emotional and behavioral functioning. In addition to
the questionnaire battery, a behavioral observation task involving
the child and parent may be administered.
