The Adventure Recreation program is designed to get you (and maybe some friends) outdoors to experience recreation opportunities available in South Florida, the state, and the Southeastern U.S.

Trips and classes are open to FIU students, Recreation Members and the FIU Community (FIU-affiliated, non-Recreation Members) at differing costs. Some trips require special gear. Participants providing their own gear must have it approved by the trip leader(s)/sponsor; otherwise it will provided (usually at a fee) by the trip leader(s)/ sponsor.

All participants will be required to sign a Waiver provided either by the trip leader(s)/ sponsor or Recreation Services. Payment must be made in full when registering. Cash, credit card, FIU Debit Card, money order or cashier checks only. Refund available only if trip is cancelled.

Experience the River of Grass that is the Everglades. Look for wildlife (like native alligators and invading pythons), flora and maybe something unusual. More info TBA.

HORSEBACK RIDING

TRIP DATE: Sat., Oct. 10. Meet at 9:45am at the Bar-B-Ranch (3500 Peaceful Ridge Road (SW 121 Ave.) in Davie. The ride begins at 10:15 and last until approx. noon.

Giddy up! Grab your boots and get ready to take a scenic ride through the public land surrounding the Bar-B-Ranch in Davie. This landscape is one of South Floridsa's most beautiful and stunning countrysides. The Town of Davie's Robbins Open Space Preserve lets riders and nature lovers alike see a glimpse of "Old Florida". The 160 acre park possesses one of the last remaining oak hammocks in Broward County, along with longhorn cattle that roam within the park's 2 pastures.
