What are Athletic Training Services?
A Certified Athletic Trainer (ATC), when present at Intramural Sports games, assists in the prevention and treatment of athletic injuries. During regular Rec Center hours, the ATC will provide care, education and appropriate referral for exercise & activity-related injuries/illness.
- The Athletic Trainer will evaluate and assess your injury, and refer you for follow-up evaluation/treatment when necessary.
- ATCs are medical experts in preventing, recognizing, managing and rehabilitating injuries that result from physical activity.
- ATCs can help you avoid unnecessary medical treatment and disruption of normal daily life - if you're injured, they can get you on the mend and keep you on the move.
What is the cost?
- All initial evaluations and treatment are FREE to Intramural Sports participants as well as other FIU students and Recreation Members.
- Follow-up treatments will cost $20.00 per treatment for students and $25.00 for Recreation Members with a referral from University Health Services or other physician referral.
- Pre-game taping is available for $2.00 (to cover cost of supplies). Please give yourself enough time to get to your game in time.
