Class Times

The class meets Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from 4:00pm to 4:50pm in GL-100B.

Office Hours and Contact Info

Office hours are 2:30-3:30pm and 5:00-5:30 on Monday and Wednesday. I will be happy to make an appointment for another time if that is more convenient. My office is DM 317, my phone number is 305-348-3287, and my email is <boydj@fiu.edu>.

TA Information

The TA for this class is Ilay Kurt. Her office hours will be from 2:30-3:30pm on Wednesdays in DM-308 A/B. Her email is ikurt001@fiu.edu.

Exams and Homework

Grades will be based on two in-class midterm exams (worth 25% each), a final exam (40%), and the remaining 10% on homework. In addition to being announced in class, homework assignments will be posted on the class web page.

Exams

The first midterm was Friday, September 26. Answers to the first midterm are now available. The second midterm was Friday, October 31. Answers to the second midterm are now available.

The final will be in our regular classroom (GL-100B) at the officially scheduled time, Monday, December 8 at 2:15pm. It will be comprehensive.

Homework

Homework may be done individually or in groups of no more than 4. If you do your homework in a group, please turn in a single set of answers with everyone's name at the top. I strongly advise you to attempt all the questions yourself, even if you work with a group.

If you are unable to turn in the homework in class, it can be turned in at the Economics Department by the due date for full credit. Late homework may be subject to a penalty and will not be accepted once the assignment is returned.

1. Problems 1, 2, 3, and 4 from Chapter 2 (pp. 38-39) were due on Monday, September 8.
2. Problems 2, 4, 10, and 13 from Chapter 3 (pp. 79-81) were due on Wednesday, September 17.
3. Problems 1, 4, 5, and 9 from Chapter 4 (pp. 105-108) were due on Monday, September 22.
4. Problems 1, 4, 7, and 10 from Chapter 6 (pp. 157-159) were due on Wednesday, October 15.
5. Problems 1, 5, 8, and 11 from Chapter 7 (pp. 178-180) were due on Monday, October 20.
6. Problems 1, 2, 3, and 12 from Chapter 8 (pp. 203-205) were due on Monday, October 20.
7. Problems 1, 2, 6, and 8 from Chapter 13 (pp. 330-332) were due on Wednesday, November 12.
8. Problems 2, 4, 10, and 11 from Chapter 14 (pp. 359-362) were due on Monday, November 24.
9. Problems 1, 3, 6, and 7 from Chapter 15 (pp. 385-387) are due on Wednesday, December 3.

This tentative course schedule will be periodically updated. It may be altered without notice depending on material actually covered.

Missed Exams and Incompletes

Incompletes will only be considered when an emergency prevents you from attending the final exam.

If you have a good reason for missing one of the midterms, please contact me. In that case, I will re-weight your remaining midterm and final to 30% and 60%, respectively. Missing two midterms will result in failing the course.
