The class meets Monday and Wednesday from 6:25pm to 7:50pm in GL-100B.

TA Information

The TA for the class is Ozlem Yaylaci. She can be contacted via email. Her office hours are Tuesday at 11-12 AM in DM 308A/B.

Exams and Homework

Grades will be based on two in-class midterm exams (worth 25% each), a final exam (40%), and the remaining 10% on homework. In addition to being announced in class, homework assignments will be posted on the class web page.

Exams

The first midterm was Wednesday, February 4. Here are the answers. The second midterm was Wednesday, March 11. Here are the answers.

The final will be in our regular classroom (GL-100B) at the officially scheduled time, 5:00 pm on Wednesday, April 22. It will be comprehensive.

Homework

Homework may be done individually or in groups of no more than 4. If you do your homework in a group, please turn in a single set of answers with everyone's name at the top. I strongly advise you to attempt all the questions yourself, even if you work with a group.

If you are unable to turn in the homework in class, it can be turned in at the Economics Department by the due date for full credit. Late homework may be subject to a penalty and will not be accepted once the assignment is returned.

  1. Problems 1, 4, and 6 from Chapter 2 (pp. 42-43) and Problems 2 and 3 from Chapter 3 (pp. 90-91) were due on Wednesday, January 21.
  2. Problems 7, 12, and 17 from Chapter 3 (pp. 90-92) and Problems 2 and 7 from Chapter 4 (pp. 114-115) were due on Monday, February 2.
  3. Problems 1, 6, and 9 from Chapter 6 (pp. 164-165) and Problems 1 and 6 from Chapter 7 (pp. 192-193) were due on Wednesday, February 18.
  4. Problems 8 and 10 from Chapter 7 (pp. 193-194) and Problems 3, 10 and 11 from Chapter 8 (pp. 222-223) were due on Wednesday, February 25.
  5. Problems 4, 7, and 14 from Chapter 9 (pp. 246-248) and Problems 3 and 4 from Chapter 10 (pp. 267-268) were due on Wednesday, March 4.
  6. Problems 2, 3, 4, 6, and 13 from Chapter 12 (pp. 326-327) were due on Wednesday, April 1.
  7. Problems 2, 3, and 12 from Chapter 13 (pp. 352-354) and Problems 2 and 5 from Chapter 14 (pp. 383-384) are due on Monday, April 13.

Missed Exams and Incompletes

Incompletes will only be considered when an emergency prevents you from attending the final exam.

If you have a good reason for missing one of the midterms, please contact me. In that case, I will re-weight your remaining midterm and final to 30% and 60%, respectively. Missing two midterms will result in failing the course.
