No, Beta Alpha Psi is an international scholastic and professional financial information honor society, with over 273 chapters, the newest being in Hong Kong.
If I am an Undergraduate student at FIU, which requirements do I have to
fulfill to pledge?
If you are an undergraduate student, you must have declared a concentration in
accounting, finance or information systems (or have stated an intention to
declare a concentration in accounting, finance, or information systems); have
completed at least one year of collegiate courses (30+ semester hours or
equivalent), and have attained a cumulative grade average of an least 3.0 (where
A is equal to 4.0) or the equivalent.
If I am a Graduate student at FIU, which requirements do I have to
fulfill to pledge?
Graduates must maintain a 3.0 grade point average in their graduate level
courses.
How do I officially become a member?
In order to become a member, you must fulfill your candidacy. To accomplish this, you must:
- Carry a cumulative GPA of 3.0
- Have passed ACG 4101 if you are an Accounting major; FIN 3414 if you are a Finance major; and CGS 3300 if you are an MIS major
- Pay the $95 dues
- Fulfill the required number of points during the semester by attending
- Weekly meetings
- Community service events
- Socials
- Mock interviews
- Firm’s Night
- Tutoring session
- Attend the end of semester banquet
This point system is to help candidates network with top companies who are looking for Accounting, Finance, and MIS majors. All of these events include attendance by these firms. At the end of the semester, if you have fulfilled all 4 requirements listed above, you will be initiated as an official member of Beta Alpha Psi.
What does a candidate do throughout the semester to earn membership?
In order to earn membership throughout the semester, a candidate must continue to carry a cumulative GPA of 3.0 and fulfill the point system:

How often are meetings and presentations held during a semester?
Presentations are held every Friday prior to a general meeting. In addition,
Beta Alpha Psi participates in various charities and community service events
throughout the semester. (For more information go to the

What is the amount one has to pay to pledge?
$95
What is the amount a member of Beta Alpha Psi has to pay?
$75
How are the funds dispersed?
$55 goes directly to Nationals to pay for chapter maintenance fees. The remaining is used for shirts, name tags, pins for the
initiation, trophies for the various tournaments, and other items to make the
semester a success. |
