FIU's Rose and Campana reach
Flight "A" South Regional finals
he
FIU womens doubles team of Anneliese Rose and Cristina
Campana reached the Flight A finals of the Omni Hotel/ITA
South Regional Tournament in Mobile, Ala. with a 8-4 victory
over Klara Mikilova and Mojca Pavlinic, Sunday.
The No. 7-seeded Golden Panthers will square off against the
tournaments No. 1 seeds, Agata Cioroch and Lori
Grey from the University of Georgia, Monday at 10:00 am.
FIU also enjoyed success in Flight B doubles where Maria
Montoya and Dominique Rosenberg beat Mississippi States
Elaine Fagan and Carole Soubis, 9-7, in the semifinals.
Montoya and Rosenberg where awarded the flight championship when
their would-be foes Jamie Larson and Jennifer Sinclair
were forced to withdraw from the competition due to injury.
Golden Panther sophomore Mei Ly did not enjoy the same
success, falling to Maria Soerensen, 6-0, 6-2, in the
semifinal round. Those were the first game losses for Ly who
had won three straight-sets matches to advance to the semifinals.
She will play Monday at 10:00 a.m. for third place against the
University of Alabamas Becca Baum. |
