In doubles, the Golden Panthers Maria Montoya and Dominique Rosenberg made it to the quarterfinals while Rose and Cristina Campana reached the round of 16.

The No. 4-seeded Rose won her first-round Flight A match against Ole Miss’ Emma Petterson, 6-0, 6-1, then beat Auburn’s Katia Illarionova, 6-0, 6-3. Rose faces the tournament’s No. 13-seed, Alexis Gordon of Florida, in Saturday’s quarterfinals action.

In Flight B singles, FIU’s unranked Ly won straight-sets matches against Jenny Timmis, 6-0, 6-1, and Robin Gorman, 6-1, 6-1, to advance. Ly meets Ashlee Callahan in the quarterfinals.

Rose and Campana took their Flight A doubles contest against Rochelle Godthreate and Charlene Kambarami, 8-2. The FIU duo plays the University of Miami’s Sihem Bennacer and Sara Robbins, Saturday in the round of 16.
