No. 22 FIU takes its first
loss in nine matches, 4-3

Oregon women's tennis team stops No. 22 FIU's nine match winning
streak, 4-3, at University Park on Friday afternoon.
The Golden Panthers (15-4) took the doubles competition, winning
at the No. 2 and 3 positions, as Marina Raic and Maria
Montoya defeated the Ducks Monica Gieczus and Daria Panova,
9-7. Mei
Ly and Dominique
Rosenberg easily handled Ester Bay and Janice Nyland, 8-2.
The singles matches cost FIU, as Oregon took four of the six,
including two three setters. In the No. 1 and No. 4 singles,
Anneliese
Rose and Cristina
Campana both won, defeating Panova (6-4, 6-2) and Davina
Mendiburu (6-0, 6-1), respectively.
Oregon's Gieczus and Vickie Gunnarsson won the crucial three
set matches in the No. 3 and 5 positions over Montoya (7-6, 0-6,
6-1) and Raic (3-6, 6-2, 6-4).
FIU's Ly and Rosenbeg also took losses to Nyland (7-5, 6-1)
and Adeline Arnaud (7-5, 6-0)
The Golden Panthers will play their third match in three days
tomorrow vs. UCF at University Park at 11:00 a.m.
