April 27: FIU takes third place with 4-1 SBC win over Arkansas-Little
Rock
The
FIU women’s tennis team ended its season on a high note, defeating
Arkansas-Little Rock, 4-1, and claiming third place at the Sun Belt
Conference women’s tennis championships, in Mobile, Ala. The
Golden Panthers concluded a rebuilding year with a roster of four freshmen
and two juniors, by winning three of four tournament matches played
this weekend.

Denver
Second-seeded Denver
earned a chance to play for its first ever Sun Belt Conference championship
with its 4-1 win over sixth-seeded FIU in the semifinals of the SBC
championships. The
loss snapped a string of three consecutive championship appearances
for the Golden Panthers who will instead play Arkansas-Little Rock,
Sunday for third place.
April 25: Golden Panthers upset Middle Tennessee, move on at
SBC Championships
Recording the first
upset of the weekend, No. 6-seeded FIU moved on at the Sun Belt Conference
Championships in Mobile, Ala., with a 4-2 victory over third-seeded
Middle Tennessee, in quarterfinals play. The win avenged an earlier
4-2 defeat at the hands of the Lady Raiders that had closed out the
regular season.
April 25: FIU advances at Sun Belt Conference Championships
Sixth-seeded FIU
advanced to the second round of the Sun Belt Conference championships
with a 4-0 shutout over 11th-seeded Louisiana-Lafayette, Friday.
March 31: Golden Panthers come up short, 4-2, to Middle Tennessee
The FIU women’s
tennis team ended its regular season schedule with a 4-2 home loss to
Sun Belt Conference foe Middle Tennessee, Monday at University Park.
The Golden Panthers couldn't recover from an early 3-0 deficit.
