Taddei's two goals not enough for FIU
he
FIU women's soccer team lost on the road for the second straight
contest Sunday afternoon, 4-2 to the University of North Texas
in Denton, Texas. Despite an apparent difference in talent coming
into the game, the match was close throughout with North Texas
clinching the win on a late goal from midfielder Alyssa Carrier
in the 84th minute.
The Eagles (12-4-1, 6-2 in Sun Belt) were led offensively
by junior forward Marilyn Marin, who scored two goals and added
two assists to total 6 points. Marin, who leads the nation in
goals (26) and points (67), broke a team record for goals scored
in a season with her second goal of the afternoon.
FIU sophomore midfielder Janessa Taddei put on a show as well,
scoring two goals to match Marin's total, and nearly single-handedly
keeping the Golden Panthers (2-13-2, 2-3-1) in the game. The
first goal, a free kick from 15 yds out, tied the score at 1-1
early in the second half, and her second goal later on in the
period drew the Golden Panthers back to within a goal.
Florida International will next compete in the Sun Belt Conference
Tournament next Wednesday, November 6 in Mobile, Ala.
