Liz Stuart leads Women's Golf at Beacon Woods

IU ends the first day in fifth place at the Beacon Woods Invitational in Bayonet Point, FL. The Golden Panthers are only three strokes back of a four-way first place tie.

Liz Stuart is tied for first after posting a career-low two under 70, including a 34 on the front side. Courtney Burdick fired a two-over 74, also carding a 34 on the front.

Other FIU finishers included Marika Pluta (77), Laura Leone (82) and Natasha Lorenz (86).

Host South Florida, Mississippi, Tulane and Memphis are all jammed at 300 for the first-place lead. Sofie Andersson of Mississippi State is tied with Stuart for first.

Play continues tomorrow and Sunday at Beacon Woods Country Club.
