
Andrea Nagy, Washington Mystics
College: One of the most decorated athletes in school
history, Andrea Nagy played from 1991-95. She helped FIU to two
NCAA Division I appearances and finished her career averaging
14.5 points, 3.6 rebounds and 9.4 assists, the fourth best assist
average in NCAA history. Her 1,136 assists in the second best
All-Time and she is ranked third in school history with 1,812
career points. In 1994, Nagy led the nation with 10.3 assists
per game and was selected first-team All-America by Kodak, United
States Basketball Writer's Association and USA Today.
Professional: Nagy was drafted by Washington in the third
round of the 1999 WNBA Draft. She started all 32 games, finishing
seventh in the league in assists, averaging 4.6 per game. She
also averaged 5.1 points and shot 76.3 percent from the free throw
line. In 1996, Nagy was selected by Seattle in the fourth round
of the ABL Draft. She played in 39 games and finished second on
the team in assists (113), fifth in steals (34) and ninth in scoring
(3.8). In 1997, she was a tryout player with Long Beach and became
the starting point guard. She finished third in the league in
assists (273), while averaging 7.6 points per game as she helped
the Stingrays to the Championship. Nagy was sent to Seattle, during
that offseason, then traded to Philadelphia before the league
folded in midseason.
Dalma Ivanyi, Utah Starzz
College: Ivanyi
played from 1995-99 where she was a two-time All-American. She
played in three NCAA I Tournaments and finished her career ranked
fifth in points (1,499), second in assists (896), first in steals
(376) and first in three-pointers (102) in FIU history. During
her senior season, she averaged 15.0 points, 3.8 rebounds, 8.8
assists and shot 40.6 percent from three-point range and was named
third team All-American by the Associated Press. She was also
honored with the Sun Belt Defensive Player-of-the-Year in 1998
and the Trans America Athletic Conference Player-of-the-Year in
1997.
Professional: One of only 10 college players drafted in
the 1999 Draft. Ivanyi was picked in the fourth round by the Utah
Starzz.
